If you rent gear you keep it - you do not hand it in every day.

The advantages of renting gear off mountain are that it can be cheaper, and you save time when you arrive as you do not have the hassle of renting gear when you arrive.

The advantage of renting gear on the mountain is that if the boots don’t fit, or something breaks, it is easier to swap.
