Where is a good place to carry children snow skiing in NC?

Me and my kids, ages 8 & 9, are trying to plan a snow skiing trip for after the first of the year. None of us have ever been before. We live in Georgia and would be interested in someplace close enough to drive. So no place out west, just mainly on the east coast. Thanks for your help.
